Iv’e come to the conclusion that everyone requires a place in there home where pretty much anything gets dumped – all the little annoying objects that never have an actual place they belong…keys, jewellery, loose change, stuff that you know your going to need but will easily mislay if left just on the side or loose in a bag. ┬áThis was my personal inspo behind my latest DIY and I’m sure I’m not alone.

On one of my recent Pound Shop hauls not so long ago I noticed some really good sized circular dishes (that were actually photo frames) but had a decent enough depth to hold all the annoying but necessary essentials I am forever looking to find a home for or that I never know where to put. I decided to incorporate the insanely popular interiors trend of the moment, the Brass and Marble duo, I decided to achieve a slightly lush look in particular, however the beauty of this is you can alter them to fit with your own personal style preference and really make it something that suits your home.

Follow these simple steps and give it a go…

Materials you will need…
  • Pound Shop Frames or cheap dish with depth.
  • Marble Self Adhesive Vinyl
  • Scissors
  • Gold Spray Paint
  • Dust Sheet
  • Marker
Step 1. Take all the pieces of the frame apart and set aside the glass and backing.
Step 2. Roll out your vinyl and on the back place the glass inserts on the top. This will act as your template so that you are able to mark the exact size required with your marker.
Step 3. Cut out your shapes.

Step 4. Peel off the back of the vinyl revealing the adhesive side and place equally on the original backing that came with the frame. Make sure you stick to the side that will be on display under the glass.
Step 5. Cover your work surface with a dust sheet and place the outer parts of your frame down ready for spraying. Keeping the can around 20-30cm away from the object start to disperse the spray, moving in vertical and horizontal movements over the object until an even coverage is achieved.

Step 6. Reassemble the frame accordingly and place in and around your home to house all your bits and bobs.

I personally love these little additions in my home. It’s totally saved me just that little bit of time searching for the loose change I was sure I had yesterday or the misplaced car keys delaying me from the dreaded school run. The fact that they are achievable just by spending a couple of quid in the Pound Shop also makes me very happy lol! So give it a go and let me know what you think in the comments box below!

Goodluck guys!
